1968 Late Who drummer Keith Moon drove a Lincoln automobile into the pool of a Holiday Inn in Flint, Michigan.
1969 - Arlo Guthrie's Alice's Restaurant premiered in Los Angeles and New York.
1978 - Bruce Springsteen graced the cover of Rolling Stone.
1979 - Prince scored his first U.S. hit with "I Wanna Be Your Lover."
1979 - The Cars played a show in New York City's Central Park for a half million people.
1981 - Mark David Chapman earned a 20 to life sentence in prison for the murder of John Lennon.
1982 - The Rolling Stones released a live version of "Time Is On My Side" as a single. The song appeared on their Still Life album.
1989 - With special guests Steve Winwood, Elton John, Phil Collins, Patti LaBelle and Billy Idol in tow, The Who performed Tommy at the Universal Amphitheatre.
1990 - A Reno, Nevada judge ruled that Judas Priest was not responsible for the suicides of two youths after they had listened to music from the band.
1994 - Drummer Dave Abruzzese quit Pearl Jam, and was replaced with Jack Irons.
